Phuket, 17 March 2026 – Vietjet Thailand joined the 25th regular meeting of the Airlines Association of Thailand (AAT). Senior executives from member airlines, including Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Vietjet Thailand, jointly attended the meeting to discuss the current aviation industry landscape, as well as strategies to advance Thailand’s aviation sector amid ongoing economic challenges and global uncertainties. The meeting also covered airline operating costs, particularly the volatility of fuel prices driven by geopolitical tensions across several regions. These developments have created uncertainty in global energy markets and may affect cost stability across the aviation industry. The Airlines Association of Thailand therefore emphasized the importance of government support, such as a temporary reduction in excise tax on jet fuel, to help airlines manage costs and maintain industry stability.

Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong‑Osoth, President of the Airlines Association of Thailand, said, “The aviation industry is a vital infrastructure supporting the country’s economy and tourism sector. At a time when energy costs are fluctuating due to global circumstances, supportive measures from the government, such as considering a reduction in the excise tax on jet fuel, would help ease the cost burden on airlines and sustain domestic connectivity, which plays an important role in distributing income to regional areas. Aviation plays a crucial role in connecting travel, supporting tourism, and driving the country’s economy, particularly in key tourism provinces nationwide. The Airlines Association of Thailand's ongoing initiatives and close collaboration with government agencies aim to reinforce industry resilience and reassure stakeholders of a committed, forward-looking approach to sustainable growth.”

Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, said, “Vietjet Thailand works closely with the Airlines Association of Thailand and industry partners to jointly drive the development of Thailand’s aviation industry toward strong and sustainable growth. Amid challenges.

From rising energy costs and global economic volatility, appropriate support measures will help strengthen the competitiveness of Thai airlines while maintaining airfares at accessible levels for the public, as well as supporting the long-term growth of tourism and the country’s economy.”

Vietjet Thailand’s participation underscores its commitment to collaborating with the Airlines Association of Thailand and industry stakeholders to advance the sustainable growth of Thailand’s aviation sector. The airline also remains dedicated to maintaining high safety and operational standards while providing quality, accessible air travel for passengers across Thailand.
